An 'Arresting' Experience
Bruce Guthrie, Headteacher of Bishop Barrington Comprehensive School, Susie English-Stewart, Marketing Manager of S.G. Petch, Louise Gwin, Sales Assistant, Argos and Elaine Stafford, Financial Planning Manager at HSBC Bank were all “arrested” by P.C.’s Jeff Sawyer and Bill Smith, for Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland Jail’em & Bail’em event.
They were then taken to Bishop Auckland Police Station for “mug shots” then given lunch at the hospice, while their £300 bail was raised.
Louise Gwin from Argos said “Help the Hospices is the chosen charity of Argos and our store has been twinned with Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland. We raised the money by having a man leg wax, a quiz night, and fundraising in-store. We all really enjoyed the event, it was great fun!”
Each participant raised their bail in a different way, and HSBC are match-funding the amount raised by Elaine Stafford.
Sylvia Stoneham, Fundraiser for Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland said “We had a great time” I was in the police van to witness each “arrest” and Jeff and Bill were brilliant! The participants really got into the role-playing and enjoyed being put into the back of the van! I’m very grateful to everyone who made the event so successful. We anticipate a profit of between £1,200 and £1,500. Well done everyone!”
